Feeling Festive

Tis the season to spread good cheer. And what better way to add a smile to the kids's faces than decorating for the holidays.

The children have been decorating the walls with their snowy creations, ready to welcome the Winter Solstice.

The Toddler I class put their faces to each individual snowflake.

And Ms. Robin helped the tiny elves with their window decoration. I see Rudolf!

Up in Pre-K, they have their stockings hung with care with hopes that St. Nick will soon be here!

And their Christmas tree is giving Charlie Brown's a run for it's money.

And don't forget Hanukkah! The Menorah is also getting some time during this season of lights!

The kids have been learning a lot about the holidays celebrated in our community. What do you celebrate?

Making Sense of Senses

This week, the classes have been learning all about their senses. What better time of year than now with the sights,  sounds, tastes, feels, and smells of the holiday season? Bright lights, laughter from family, delicious turkey and pumpkin pie with whipped cream, warm hot chocolate, prickly Christmas trees, Gingerbread cookies, and more!

In our Pre-K class, the teachers have been reading stories about our senses and doing activities like taste tests, feely boxes, and scent identifying.

Make sure to check out our parent boards for information about what your child is learning each day and during the week. Find us on facebook for additional pictures, information, and updates.

Toddler II class also got into the action with their own feely table while dressed in their finest play attire.

Blake kept pulling out these big plush fuzz balls and declaring them, "Cute!" We think he's the cute one!

Trick or Treat

Last week the children got to don their Halloween best for a little trick-or-treat fun.

Farmers, superheros, strawberries, dragons, and more visited our neighboring businesses to show off their costumes and add to their candy stash.

Afterward, they enjoyed some of their treats.

Stuff the Bus with Diapers!

Our "Stuff the Bus" campaign for our diaper drive to benefit the Haverhill, MA area Anchor of Hope Diaper Bank is underway. Our container is closer to a pack n' play, but let's see how much we can help out our community provide diapers to families in need.

Bring unopened packages of diapers to LFLC from Friday, October 12, 2012 until Friday, November 2, 2012. All brands and sizes accepted.

Providing a baby with clean diapers creates an immediate, positive impact on the life of that individual infant and the life of that family. Many parents are already struggling to pay for rent and food and simply cannot afford the high cost of an adequate supply of diapers for their children.

What is a diaper bank?
A diaper bank is a nonprofit group that collects, stores, and helps distribute free diapers to homeless shelters, food pantries, family service agencies, and faith based organizations. They rely on the generosity of individuals and corporate donors.

What is Anchor of Hope?
Anchor of Hope is an organization that provides diapers free of charge to families in need through already existing agencies and social service organizations. Find them on facebook.

For more information on our diaper drive or diaper need, contact the LFLC office at 978-374-9454 or info@littlefootprints.org.

Capturing Fall in Art

Our little artists have been busy with fall art projects.

Toddler II made some really great wreaths using their hand prints.

Toddler I's class room is preparing for a little Halloween fun.

Preschool decorated with a bit of leafy fun. Check out those trees!

And a little maple leaf drip art in perfect foliage-inspired colors from the artists in Pre-K.

Apple Picking at Cider Hill Farm

Today, we headed out to Cider Hill Farm for the LFLC Annual Apple Picking trip with Preschool and Pre-K classes.

Toddler II class got a chance to make sure the bus was ready before the field trip. They were so excited to meet the "bus man" and get on the bus. Toddler IIs waved to the big kids as they headed off to the farm.

Toddler II kids Patrick and Jack check out the bus before the big kids board.

It was a perfect fall-feel to the day with temperatures in the 50s and 60s and just a few puffy clouds. The air was crisp and so were the apples.

The kids enjoyed filling the supplied bags with apples - and getting an extra one to eat!
